Today we announced a new feature to 13skills.com that will improve interaction among members.  This got me thinking that while I often talk about our need to improve skills (specifically hard skills) I have not ever really done a dedicated show specifically going into the actual reasons that such skills are so important.

Our modern age has lulled us to sleep but most people that listen to TSP are aware that major changes are not just coming, in many ways they are happening right now, in front of our eyes.  We live in a society where people “call a guy” far more often then fixing things themselves.  We teach our children to avoid phyical work at all costs and are devolving into tablet and phone based society.

I personally love technology but consider that we teach a student basic addition, subtraction, multiplication and division prior to empowering them with a calculator.  Should we not also teach young drivers to use street signs and read a map before giving them a GPS application?

I also have some follow up from yesterday, one issue I seem to have been very wrong about in regard to college and I wish to make it right and something very dangerous in the so called “NRA Members Gun Safety Act” I left out yesterday.

Today Stewart Rhodes founder of Oath Keepers joins us on The Survival Podcast to discuss the fight to restore our Constitutional Republic to its roots.

Oath Keepers is a non-partisan association of currently serving and prior service military, peace officers, and firefighters who will fulfill the oath they swore to support and defend the Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic, so help us God.

Oath Keepers believes that our oath is to the Constitution, not to the politicians, and will not obey unconstitutional (and thus illegal) and immoral orders, such as orders to disarm the American people or to place them under martial law and deprive them of their ancient right to jury trial.

The Oath Keepers have drawn a line in the sand. They will not “just follow orders.” The Oath Keeper motto is “Not on our watch!”

Today’s show expands on yesterday’s and gives you five more lies that most American’s believe to be true. No conspiracy theories or tin foil hat concepts here. This stuff is all wide open and easy to verify as fact by reading simple history and looking at current realities.  Again think about the fact that this show was done in advance of the economic recession.  Before the election of Barack Obama and the fully commanding take over of the House and Senate by the democrats.

At the time I did this show the Dow Jones was still hovering around 12,000 and was a few weeks away from the massive October crash and later the February of 09 cliff dive.   There were no Tea Parties, the unemployment rate was about 5.5%.  People like me at that time were being publicly called nuts for saying that now was the time to protect yourself and that bad times were on the way.

Sorry for the background noise in today’s show, while I think the audio is over all much better my mobile studio seemed to attract every semi truck on the highway on that day.

Today we have a rebroadcast of a show I did back in August 27th, 2008.  I decided this would be a good show to have on during my absence to Arkansas where I am laying wood flooring getting ready for our move there this winter. I want you to think about some of these things in contrast with the so called “historic election” that just occurred yesterday.  My belief is until some of these underlying issues no matter who is in charge we will get the same results with a different marketing message.   Today’s podcast may challenge some of your beliefs and might even make you angry at times. That just means is isn’t the same old – same old.

Keep in mind that this show was done in 2008 before the economic crash when all the talking heads were telling us that things were going to be just fine and countless advisors were telling people to buy Bank of America stock because it had dropped in price due to “guilt by association”.

Today we shall continue with Part Two of  “A New Understanding of Money”.  This subject is deep and complex yet once we peal back the layers it is remarkably simple.  Yesterdays show set up the fundamental underlying knowledge necessary to comprehend the real mess that has been made of our monetary system.

Today we will learn about the way our money is supposed to be created and managed and the common misconceptions about gold and currency in relation to the United States dollar.  We will build a fictional currency of our own to work in a barter economy, this will be like studying Latin to actually understand the structure of English but a lot more entertaining.

When you finish with today’s show and add it to yesterday’s you will know more about our currency than 99% of Americans with Bachelors Degrees.    Indeed you will know more about what really maters then may with degrees in economics and finance.

    • Understand the money supply is not about politics
    • Accept that the current system will change but that we can’t know how
    • Exist outside the system where you can
    • Base your personal economy on value

So since I was out in the field on Monday I figured we would do a listener call in show for today, I have some great questions, please understand if you have asked a question or even a few questions and have not had it answered on the air that my volume of email at this point is barring on the insane.   On any given day 200-300 emails that are either questions, show comment materiel or references to relevant articles are sent in to me, that ammounts to 1400-2100 a week.  I can’t get to everyone but I work hard to get a good snapshot into each show like this.

A recent forum thread stated that part of the reason survivalists concepts do not attract more people is because we all come from such a right wing stand point.  Clearly as a Libertarian I take exception to this, the reality is most survivalists have a strong believe in following the Constitution.

Those that acutually respect The Constitution are often painted as “Right Wing” by the media but are they?  Is it exclusively a republican ideal to support The Constitution?  Of course not, do not Democrats invoke The Constitution when it suits them?

My view is Survivalists are often seen as “right wing” simply due to the communities overriding belief in the “right to keep and bare arms” applying to “the people”.  Yet many of us have what are called “liberal beliefs” by many as well in regard to things like alternative energy, restrictive social pollicies and even the unconstitutional practice of certain aspects of drug prohibition.

What are the real reasons the survivalist community doesn’t grow as fast as it should, tune in today to hear my take on that.

Can an individual alone secede from the current system of politics and government support?  Yes I believe that you can.  It is not “un American” or a “renouncement of citizenship” and it isn’t anything like a state seceding from The Union.

No instead it is an affirmation of citizenship and the responsibility that goes with it.  Today I start off answering a question about Mitchell Fishing reels from an earlier episode, get into more on the Trillion Dollar Stimulus and end up with my personal declaration of independence from “the systems”.

I ask you to listen and consider what I am saying, I will be formalizing this “act of secession” this weekend and asking others to join in.
