Podcast: Play in new window | Download (Duration: 1:07:26 — 15.4MB)
Today I am doing a down and dirty style podcast, no intro segments, or promo or song of the day, just strait content and I am doing that specifically to get in some new content during this week while we are running the TSP – 20 Workshop on Nine Mile Farm.
So getting right to it here are today’s bullet points…
- We are talking “work shops” not trade shows here
- We are also talking multi day events
- What you should likely not expect to do
- End up with a large turnout unless you have a market or access to an influencer
- Totally pay for large projects
- Make a living wage
- What you should not do
- Make any work shop “all work” include instructionals too
- Use volunteer labor, pay your staff they are there to work
- Make people bring things like plates, etc.
- Try to see to things like ride shares, lodging (beyond say a group rate) etc.
- Things I have learned make a great experience
- Feed the hell out of people
- Keep an active schedule but include breaks, networking time, etc.
- Barter Blankets
- Diversity of topics/instructors
- Single speaking track, no competing presentations
- Open sessions for impromptu sessions
- Tell your story time, build those relationships
- Have spies that will tell you what people didn’t like, people won’t tell you the small things
- Final Thoughts
