Episode-2756- 20 Perennial Herbs for Perennial Production
Podcast: Play in new window | Download (Duration: 1:17:18 — 17.7MB)
Yesterday on the so called right wing echo chamber that is only about politics, someone posted this quite non partisan and non political graphic. I was like wow, someone did my pre show work for my next podcast, of course I added a few as bonus for you guys.
To me herbs are one of natures true gifts to man and beast alike. They grow like weeds, they provide food, flavor and medicine and they ask very little in return. Just a bit of okay soil, sun and water and they do what they have done for longer than man has walked the planet.
Today we examine 20 great perennial herbs to add to your homestead in the coming new year. Please note the website of the group that made the graphic can be found at GmoFreeUSA.org.

Hi Jack,
When you say (to zone x), what does that mean?
That the can survive winters up to USDA Zone what ever.

You can find your zone by zipcode here https://garden.org/nga/zipzone/
Dang, what a bummer for me. I’m in Zone 9a 🙁
That means you can grow anything.
In PEI, zone 5b, our zones are a bit different
I have Chives, Lavender, Marjoram, Oregano, Peppermint, Sage, and Tarragon I’ve had for seven years then the weeds took it over, and it was nice French Tarragon, I should have taken some cuttings. Thyme as well
I’d like to throw in Tomatillo, since the bastards have been volunteering for three years now. Purple de Milpas and regular Tomatillos. I picked fourteen pounds tonight in addition to the twenty I picked over the summer. Summer up here by PEI standards was above average and dry as f**. Less than 2″ rain in all of July and August, very unusual for up here.
Jack – I’ve tried to post this several times. At first the software rejected it because I was using a VPN. So I turned off the VPN and now it won’t let me post because “it’s a duplicate”, even though the original was never posted. I hope adding this text will fool it into allowing the post to go.
What is your recommended source for seeds? I was hoping to find a link in the Resources section, but it’s not there.
Thanks!
