Episode-2372- Expert Council Q&A for 2-1-19 — 8 Comments

  1. I was really hoping that someone knew where to get that surveillance  rig that you were talking about on this show. I know exactly what you are talking about. A teacher of mine in middle school was listening in on a conversation between my friends and I from a couple classrooms down. Then let us give it a go and from my recollection it was ridiculously clear from great distances. I have actually been trying to find one like it or something similar for the last couple of years but to no avail.

  2. Walkie Talkie”s for Family (great option)

LISTENER RECOMMENDATION: I purchased these last year and they have been super handy.  First off, they allow my kids to play in the extended yard and remain in contact. The property I rent is on a 3-4 acre plot with a creek and 2 acre pond.  This allows me to stay in contact with the kids while fishing, etc. The phones also feature a little flashlight, a feature the kids appreciate.

Some additional great uses we have made of these radios as a family:

    > Bicycling along trails.  Even when a half mile or more separated us, I was able to stay in contact with my children – both the one riding ahead and the one dawdling behind.

    > Festivals, these have been great. Walking around the festival. I even allowed my 7 year old daughter some independence. She wandered to a “fairy’s table” and wound up getting herself an autographed copy of the fairy’s book.  That would of never have happened if I was with her.

    > Cruise, recently we went on a cruise.  And while the radios are somewhat limited due to the metal walls and bulkheads. They still often helped us connect and find one another.  Especially, once we discovered a nifty trick.  The radios could communicate across the deck levels if we stood at the elevator areas.  That proved quite useful.

I would say that they are one of the best investments I’ve made.
