Episode-2401- Bug Out Trailers with Spirko and Harris – Part 11 — 14 Comments

  1. Brown recluse spiders can be a problem with cardboard boxes long term in the south in dark places. Wrapping in garbage bag may prevent this, I need to try it. Anybody want to open it for me after a year for the test:)

  2. Love these BOT episodes! So much info for all kinds of situations, even beyond bugging out.

There’s a really old fashioned storage box that might be of interest, especially for DIY people: wannigan or chuck box, storage for cooking gear that opens to be a portable kitchen. There are a lot of plans and pictures on line.

Oh, and FWIW squirrels can chew through an Action Packer. 😉

  3. Do you know where we can get photos of the inside the the trailer you used in the episode art?

  4. If you are in a area with dairy farms. They use 15 gal plastic barrels for milk line cleaner, it is a food grade acid. I get several a month @ the township recycling center. They also make great trash cans.

Please  do a 12th BOT installment, as a summary and so Jack can end with a round number? thx guys it’s neen a great series, what’s next?

  5. Jack, do you happen to know where to get those one quart jars you were talking about that you use for dried vegis like jalapenos?  I use glass mason jars now, but I’d be very interested in seeing what you mentioned.

  6. One thing that I do to seal totes is a bicycle inter tube. Cut to length and double side tape around the top of the box.

  7. Where is the .pdf that Steve mentioned showing how to fold a plastic bag liner to make a pack waterproof?

    Thanks

  8. Yes, I was looking for the instructions on the waterproof folding method Steve mentioned as well.

  9. Just went thru all the current aired bit shows you talk about diesel heaters have you looked into the webasto heater they use them on semi trucks boats and some RVs may be something to look into

  10. Rats may not eat through a 5 gal bucket, but I have had SQUIRRELS (aka Tree Rats) chew through the edge of  bucket lids to get to food inside.

  11. Sorry to ask a question that I know Mr. Harris has already answered but, who is the guy that makes the attachments for Jerry Cans to use with Honda EU2000 generators? I know I have heard it in multiple shows but can’t seem to find the site in my notes.

  12. Another company making good quality totes is MTM. IF you have one of those plastic boxes that individually hold your rounds of ammo like in reloading, it’s likely MTM. They have other plastic ammo cans and dry boxes and a product that I think just came out a couple years ago, AmmoCrates. I have a few of these and they work very well and are a good design. They come in several different sizes and configurations and have a great latch on them. Overall they seem to me to be a very high quality box. I keep one in the truck under my back seat with things like tie dows, zip-ties, work gloves, tire kit, jumper cables etc and I have others I keep ammo in and others with various preps.

I’ve been seeing them show up at more shops and you can get them online. I think I got mine at Cabelas one time I was in there using up a gift card. Glad I did.

Here is a link to the company’s site if you want to see the options.
