Anker 24W Dual USB Car Charger – Item of the Day — 17 Comments

  1. Jack,

When the notification for this I was on the go, I bought two, one for me, and one for my girlfriend. When my money situation gets better I’ll buy a few more. Partly because my girlfriends van has 3 places I can plug one in and we do some cell gaming (yes, Pokemon Go) with friends for fun and that uses a LOT of juice, and partly to give them away as presents. They are straight up awesome. Fast charging, compact, quality products. I’ve used a lot of other products that just didn’t cut the mustard, and I was a little skeptical about Anker’s claims at first, because that price. But I read some reviews, and you don’t just happen across a 4.5+ star average with that volume of reviews if you have a shit product. So I gave it a go, and I am so glad that I did. Don’t tell them it’s worth twice what they’re asking for it. 🙂

  2. I just got one of these to replace an older Powergen unit. After using their battery pack and this adapter, I’m sold on Anker. I really like the form factor on this one and that it’s double the power output of the Powergen one.

As my Amazon Basics cords go bad, I’m replacing the all with Anker cables as well.

  3. Is Rule One – You don’t let your cell phone go dead, in fact you keep it fully charged all the time. When you are home you plug it in, when you are in the car you plug it in, etc. based on preparedness or maximizing the potential battery life? With wet cells (lead/acid) this is absolutely true to maximize battery life but is it true for the current generation of dry cells in mobile phones and tablets? The old guidance was to completely discharge before fully recharging to reduce the chance of memory or decreasing battery life.

  4. My experience has been that its best to keep your battery topped up as much as possible but dont let it overcharge for too long to the point where it gets hot.

I once bought an over sized wall plug in for my Galaxy which was advertised as as having a higher than normal output spec for rapid charging, I damaged several batteries with it where by the batteries swole up after overnight charging and pushed the back of the phone before I figured out what was happening.

I would recommend the small car adapter shown above 100%.

    • Intelligent chargers do not allow this to occur. This is why you will always see Steve and I recommend intelligent chargers. Also can’t speak for other phones but at least the iPhone 6 and above have on board intelligence that will not permit over charging.

  5. I bought one of these a while back. I love it. Definitely recommended to fellow listeners.

  6. I just purchased one of these. I cannot believe how fast it charges! I have an iPhone 6 and it charged 21% in 25 minutes. This has to be close to what the apple wall charger rate is. Anker products have yet to disappoint. Thanks Jack!

    • Indeed I bought two today one for each vehicle, but both already have one. LOL

  7. I already have two. One for My car and one for the Wife’s. Two is one and one is…. Every review above is spot on. The fastest and best damn charger out there. Also bought two 10′ Anker charging cables for the house. We’ve had them over a year now and both are still in great shape. Wife bought a 6′ Apple Brand for her car cable and its already missing half an inch of rubber at the plug with wires exposed. ANKER ROCKS!

    • Indeed, if Anker came to me for a marketing slogan, I would give them this….

“Anker ~ Costs Less ~ Works Better”

They should brand the shit out of that, it will work because it is true.

  8. The ad on amazon says:

Advanced Charging Technology: PowerIQ and VoltageBoost combine to provide the fastest possible charge up to 4.8 amps or 2.4 amps per port. (Does not support Qualcomm Quick Charge).

So i asked myself… “WTF is Qualcomm quick charge?? and should i care??”

Looks like this device will also quick charge other Anker products (portable chargers), just not the  Anker Astro E7 that Jack promotes…Oh well.

    • Looks like it is discontinued but a new better model is available. I will be amending this review for the new model this week as soon as one shows up to test. I don’t put up anything without testing it, even with Anker but I have no qualms ordering one. The new one looks like a hella upgrade, you can find it here https://amzn.to/34P1CTY

      Thanks for the heads up!
