UTG Ranger Field Bag – Item of the Day — 10 Comments

  1. It appears to be about 10-15 linear inches too big for carry on in most airlines.

  2. It’s about double the money, but I can’t say enough good things about the Voodoo Tactical mini mojo loadout bag. I’ve used it for two years as a vehicle BOB, and the durability of this bag is second to none. It’s seriously the kind of bag that you will leave to your kids.

  3. Jim the grammar nazi again…
6th paragraph, 1st sentence: “The failure is was at the one point this bag…”

  4. I bought one of these bags earlier this year based on Jack’s recommendation.  As soon as you take it out of the packaging you can tell that it’s well constructed.  They could charge 3 times the price (currently $37.37 on Amazon) and this bag would still be a good deal.

  5. Can you recommend a framed backpack for ‘backpacking’?

I’m planning a hair over 1000 miles and selecting a pack is proving difficult.

  6. I’ve had a couple of these for more than a decade. The first thing I did to each was remove the silly little feet (they screw out easily). I then taped over the small holes left (from both sides) and never looked back. Good to go from there out.

    They are surprisingly solid bags.

Also FWIW my two bags are Woodland Camo and ACU. Now they seem to mostly be black. Oh well…

  7. I use BAD Bags. Best American Duffel are super well constructed and come in all sizes. I strap mine to my Harley and don’t worry at all about it.

  8. I have 2 and may buy a 3rd today. My 2 sons used it for Philmont. Their osprey packs and all gear fit inside to check on the flight. Then the duffel bag and base camp gear goes in the locker. The back straps are ok for short distances, better than other convertible bags I have had. Heavy duty material.
I also used it to transport tshirts for beer festivals. It fit almost 2 crates of shirts.

Best duffel bag for this price range. Thanks for the recommendation Jack.
