WINOMO AA to Size D Battery Adapters – Item of the Day

Every day I bring you an item on Amazon that I personally use or has been purchased by many members of the audience and I have researched enough to recommend.

Today’s TSP Item of the day are the WINOMO AA to Size D Battery Adapters they also make WINOMO AA to Size C Battery Adapters if you need those.

I did quite a bit of research to find a set of these I could recommend.  There are lots of options but most got very low grades at FakeSpot.com for fake reviews.  These got an A.

The reason to recommend this type of adapter is simple.  Thanks to Steven Harris I think the most common back up power solution among this audience are AA Enloop Batteries and the Powerex Smart Charger to go with them.

With those and a simple 800 Watt Inverter and a few cans or reserve gasoline for your vehicle you have an almost unlimited supply of AA or AAA battery power.  You can also charge all your smart devices over and over and even run your fridge for a few hours a day to keep your food fresh.  Not to mention run a fan to keep cool.

Now I keep a good supply of D and C batteries on hand especially since I am a big fan of both C Cell and D Cell Maglites.  However if the power is going to be off for a while it makes sense to conserve those as much as possible.

That is where the WINOMO AA to Size D Battery Adapters come in.  Just pop two double As in each one and you have D cell power in a rechargeable format.  The reason Steven and I both recommend standardizing on AA and AAAs is two fold.  First they are the most common batteries in devices for your home, so you can use them day to day in everything from head lamps to remote controls.

The second is rechargeable Cs and Ds generally don’t perform well and don’t make a great deal of financial sense.  This is where the WINOMO AA to Size D Battery Adapters come in.  While they do not have the capacity of a full D cell it just doesn’t matter because if you are set up correctly you can recharge AAs until the power comes back on or the apocalypse comes, which ever comes first.

The big thing is adding this functionality to your back up power kit is stupid cheap.  How about 8.49 with free shipping for 8 of them?  Depending on how many D Cell Devices you have you may want to pick up two sets.  This is cheap insurance given they are about a dollar a piece, the first time you use them they will pay for themselves.

While you are at it why not pick up some additional AA Enloop Batteries as well.  Along with the Powerex Smart Charger and a 800 Watt Inverter they are an incredible bang for your buck in back up power assurance.  So check out the WINOMO AA to Size D Battery Adapters today and add major flexibility to your black out kit.

Season Three – Duck Chronicles Episode 20

We have a big episode today with a lot going on.  First, we “release the ducks” and check for both rats and the rat snake in the duck house, neither where present.   We then get caught up with the baby ducks and baby chickens.  The bantam chickens are being put out each morning in one of our prototype quail tractors (aka the QuailTrackr) and the turkeys are running about the 12th mission to date in the first chicken tractor I ever built.

If I ever build another one I would do a lot differently but this one is still going and still doing a great job so we just keep using it.
We take a look at the project Dorothy and I did this weekend, revamping the three flood and drain beds in the upper part of the aquatic system.

The expanded shale just wasn’t draining well.  I came up with a simple technique of sorting the lava rock so that the top half of the beds is made up of the smallest pieces.  It adds about 15 minutes of work per bed but you do it only once and the results are totally worth it.

We finish up in the greenhouse and the quail aviary.  The cucumbers are really starting to produce in the green house, in the aviary I show you how I am using “mule tape” to tie up the white hubbard squash that now putting on fruit like crazy.

Episode-2013- Cooking with the Weber Kettle Grill

I have been asked if I think the Weber Kettle is the best charcoal grill on the market.  My answer to that is a definitive no.  The next question then is why do you love it so much.  Well first in my opinion it is the best charcoal grill under 200 dollars on the market, perhaps the best (from a versatility stand point) under 400 dollars.

Next is how portable it is.  While full sized, you can toss it in a truck bed with ease due to its light weight.  Secure it with a bungee or a ratchet strap and you are good to go.  Sure the “Big Green Egg” is better in many ways but I can’t load it into my truck for a tail gate party with no effort at all.  I can also buy two Weber’s, Charcoal and a quarter beef or a pastured pig for less than one full sized Big Green Egg.

Another reason I love it, is this is the grill our Grandfathers and Great Grandfathers cooked with.  This grill was first released in 1952.  This is the grill packed into the back of 47 Fords and 45 Chevy trucks and taken out to the country side by the post war generation while raising the baby boomers.  It became a symbol of our freedom in our nation, to go where we wanted and see our beautiful country.  No other grill can really make this claim.

Many have come and gone but after 65 years the Weber is possibly more popular than ever, with a loyal cult following that even Jimmy Buffett would envy.  Today we discuss making great meals on the Weber Kettle and some cool hacks and accessories to use with this great grill.

Weber Premium Charcoal Grill – Item of the Day

bronzegrillEvery day I bring you an item on Amazon that I personally use or has been purchased by many members of the audience and I have researched enough to recommend.

Today’s TSP Amazon Item of the day the Weber Premium Charcoal Grill.  I have owned a lot of grills, both gas and charcoal and this is my all time all around favorite.  While I do appreciate the instant light and go of my gas grill if I have 30 minutes to wait for the coals to ash over I go to my Weber more times than not.

Consider the orginal Weber Kettle Grill was made from an old buoy in 1952 and in 1956 was redesigned to look much like today’s grill.  Since 56 it has had some changes here and there but it is still pretty much the same.  Folks that is 60 years!  When something is around 60 years, one must conclude it is because it works.

The grill I recommend is the mid level model, the Weber Premium Charcoal Grill and mainly due to the upgraded “one touch cleaning system”, which should be called the no touch system in my view.  No need to ever get covered with ash.  Just turn the vent handle back and forth and remove the catcher, dump and replace it, done.

I grill at both high and indirect temps with my Weber, I smoke with it, I have done skewers over strait coals, I have even cooked meat directly on the coals.  Honestly if I needed more space for grilling at 149 shipped free on prime, I would just buy a second Weber Premium Charcoal Grill and call it a day.

A word of advice, if you take care of a Weber Kettle it will last a very long time.  Meaning someday your grill may be coveted by something called a “Kettle Head”.  What is a Kettle Head?  A collector of these grills, they even have their own very active forum.  And when you see them find and restore older gills they always seem to crave anything besides black.

I am not saying your grill will become a collectable some day but if you want the ability to sell it you will find Kettle heads prefer colors like bronze and green.  Personally I got bronze because well, it just looks cool and I like to be different.

Grilling is my favorite way to cook and the simplicity of the Weber is a great way to go.  If you have been considering a charcoal grill I have to say nothing really stacks up to the Weber Premium Charcoal Grill from a value to cost ratio.  Best part is how easy to assemble it is, it is really just a one beer job.

Counter Markets Newsletter added to the MSB

I have really enjoyed working with Vin Armani for the past few months.  The guy really has his stuff together.  His show is combination of deconstruction of the MSM narrative followed by great guests.

I just did my second appearance on his show yesterday.  Despite a technical issue (things froze and crashed on his end) we powered though and you can see the archive here or you can jump to my part here.  It was a great show.

Vin released “Counter Markets” a few months ago, he sent me the first three issues to review and I was very impressed.  Counter Markets is written from the Agorist perspective, how can you profit in the new economy?  What are the trends you should be following?  How can you profit from these trends?

I was impressed by the content, and that isn’t easy to do.  We live in a world where in many ways content is now produced in such quantity that getting someone to pay for more requires something special.  I think Vin and his team have nailed it in that regard.

In the first three issues, I have learned a lot about a booming trend in housing called the “Co-Living Trend”.  Most are high density dorm like housing for millennials in the tech industry.  They tend to be in expensive tech areas like Silicon Valley and even Austin Texas.  I would not use this trend as it is described but it has given me thoughts about a new way to market “Tiny House Living” on my property.

I also learned in great detail the story behind Uber and Lyft being pushed out of Austin, and how the gray market then created “Arcade City” with ride shares being accomplished on Facebook Groups. How that splintered into Swarm City and why the Swarm may become the disrupter of the disrupters in almost no time at all.  This understanding has changed the way I am viewing crypto currencies and block chain technology.

The cost of Counter Markets is 149.99 a year for 12 issues.  Each issue has about 60-70 pages of amazing content that drills down on the most important counter market trends of the current month.  That might sound expensive but it isn’t for the quality of the information you receive.  It is like having your own team to drill down and find the best information each month and prepare a concise report for you on Counter and Gray Market activities.  Frankly I am glad it is expensive, I am glad that you have to buy it to see what is inside of it.  I think it will give subscribers and edge in the changing markets.

Of course, when Vin asked me to promote it I asked him to do an MSB discount and I got you a BIG ONE, how about 50 dollars?  You do realize that is the entire cost of a year of MSB at full price, right?  The discount code has already been added to the MSB and you can find it on the benefits page.

To Get the Code and Discount Log into The MSB Here

Not Sure Yet?  How about getting to look inside first with a free issue? To do that just go to www.countermarkets.com and sign up for your free copy.  But if you decide to subscribe after that be sure to use the MSB discount when you do.

Please Remember the Real Meaning of Memorial Day

Today We Honor the Fallen

Today We Honor the Fallen

There will be no episode of TSP tomorrow in recognition of Memorial Day. I do want to take a moment to remind everyone today of what Memorial Day is all about. Many well meaning people even get it wrong in a way. My inbox tends to fill up with “thanks for your service” emails around Memorial Day. I appreciate it, there is nothing wrong with thanking a vet today, yet it is not really the day to thank vets many seem to believe it to be.

It seems to me that many think Memorial Day is like Veterans Day Part Two, it isn’t. Again no day is a bad day to thank a vet but if we become convinced that Memorial Day is about those of us that served and came back home, we miss the point. Memorial Day is more somber, it is about those who fell in battle and never again got up, it is about those who gave the ultimate sacrifice, it bluntly is about those who died.

Today at some point just pause and think about that. Think about the 4,400 of our US service members that have fallen in Iraq, the 2,300 in Afghanistan, the 47,000 in Vietnam, 33,000 in Korea, 291,000 in WWII, 53,000 in WWI or perhaps the 212,000 that fell on both sides in the War Between the States.

You don’t have to be for any war past or present to respect men and women who will give their lives for what they believe and fight the wars that politicians initiate. There are days for just about everything now. Days for bosses, secretaries, days for this and that and anything Hallmark can come up with.

What you won’t find in most greeting card stores is a Memorial Day Card, because those who would receive the card can’t open it, read it and feel good that someone cares. All they can hope for is that someone remembers their sacrifice, perhaps a flower or a wreath on their graves (if they even have one) or a comrade who is now living with a zeal for life in their memory.

Memorial day my friends is to remember those who served and died. Enjoy the day off if you have it, just try to remember the cost of this day. Some say you can’t count the cost, sadly you can and the numbers are very large. If you want to put it in perspective, just view the US Military Casualties of War Page on Wikipedia.

The Hitchin Rod – Item of the Day

Every day I bring you an item on Amazon that I personally use or has been purchased by many members of the audience and I have researched enough to recommend.

Today’s TSP Amazon Item of the day is the Hitchin Rod.  I first discovered the concept of a device like this when I bought my first RV.  They still make ones like the first one I had.  Basically two foam balls on something like an old school transistor radio antenna.  Problem isn’t that they don’t work, rather that they break.

Here is an example of the cheap style ones I no longer use.  They work fine, they just break often.

I bet you older folks like me remember using wire or coat hangers more than once to fix an old school radio antenna.  That material is just designed to break, so you might imagine how swiftly it gets broken in an application like this.  Still being able to back up and hook up fast and easy on your own was nice enough that I would just replace them when I had to.

Then I found the Hitchin Rods, someone decided to be good rather than cheap.  These are even better than the cheapos with the balls in function not just longevity.

Here is how it works.  Put one of them center on your trailer hitch, the other center on your truck hitch and back up lining them up.  Since it is just a magnet your trailer hitch will simply push the rod on the truck hitch over, as soon as you move it back a bit you are lined up.

Get out crank your trailer down, hook up your safety chains and electronics and roll the hell out.  Having worked construction for many years I actually came up with a great way to guide folks onto a hitch that works better than any I have ever found.  And if you have two people and both get it, it works slick.  Tune into today’s show and I will explain it.

But let me point you to something the manufacturer says about this product, they say,

Imagine the marriages this can save!!

Yea don’t know about saving a marriage but it makes a happier one.  I love my wife but a good ground guide she is not when it comes to hooking up trailers.  It isn’t a “woman thing” either I have dealt with plenty of guys that can’t guide you to a hitch to save their life, you end up doing it alone.  Back up, get out, take a look, adjust, etc.  They wave their hands but you give the hell up on their erratic meaningless motions and just deal with it.

For 35.99 with free shipping that problem is gone for good.  And they are well made in a durable one piece format.  At 48″ long they fit easily behind your truck seat taking up almost no space and you know they will be there when you need them.

This is how I feel about this product the first time you use it and get on the road faster with no stress you will feel that they have already paid for themselves.  It is just that convenient.  So if you often have to hook up trailers alone or with people that lets just say have “spacial perception and communication issues”, get a set of these.  It will make your life easier and lead to less shouting as well.  So check out the Hitchin Rods today.

Remember you can always find the TSP Amazon Item of the day by just going to TspAz.com and by shopping at TspAz.com anytime you shop online you help support TSP and the work we do here no matter what you buy.
