Winchester 51 Piece Gunsmith Screwdriver Set – Item of the Day

smithkit

Every day I bring you an item on Amazon that I personally use or has been purchased by many members of the audience and I have researched enough to recommend.

Today’s TSP Amazon Item of the day the Winchester 51 Piece Gunsmith Screwdriver Set.  I am bring this one back around because I reviewed long before we began our gunsmith kit project for 2017. Look strait out of the gate this is not really “the kit” for the big time gun enthusiast that tinkers often with many projects.  It won’t do everything  you will even need in drivers for guns, but it will do most, like 95%.

No what this kit is for is your range bag.  I can’t tell you how many times I have been at a range and a fellow shooter had some maintenance issue and no tools to fix the situation.  With this kit and a basic cleaning kit, a shell extractor and some lube if you can’t fix it at the range, you likely need a gun smith or to use your warranty if it is yet to expire.

driverkitbackThis is more than just a gun smith kit though.  Come on, 15 bucks for a good quality kit that has 48 different driver bits in it.  You know what I am going to say right.  Put one in the glove box of your vehicles.  Perhaps one in your Go Bag or BOB as well.

Does it have every torx bit, no but it has 7 and the one you are looking at pissed off because you expected it to be a Phillips bit likely will be one of those.  This is also a great gift to a young person who has finally be trusted to maintain his/her own firearms and frankly a good gift for anyone you need to get something for, not something spectacular just something.  You know what I mean.

Pick up one or a few of these and the first time you need it, you will feel like it just paid for itself.  Again this isn’t top quality on the level of say Forester or Grace USA (which I keep in my smithing box) but for 15 dollars it is extremely versatile and I have never had one fail me yet.  So give the Winchester 51 Piece Gunsmith Screwdriver Set a look and determine if it might be the right product for your range bag or other needs.

The Gerber EAB Lite – TSP Item of the Day

gerber

The Gerber EAB Lite is a Huge Bang for Your Buck as an EDC Tool.

Every day I bring you an item on Amazon that I personally use or has been purchased by many members of the audience and I have researched enough to recommend.

Today’s TSP Amazon Item of the day is the Gerber EAB Lite Pocket Knife.  This little guy is one of my absolute favorite little pieces of EDC.

You may wonder why a guy that carries knives that cost 200-700 dollars would turn around and carry this little 8 dollar tool.  Simple I have no desire to dull and gum up my expensive knives on things like opening boxes with my good knives.

What the Gerber EAB Lite does is ensure you always have a razor sharp blade available, because well you use razor blades in it.  Now think about this you can get a hundred pack of blades for 10 bucks.  Each blade can be used till dull, then flipped and you use up the other side.  That means with one 100 pack of blades you can flip or change a blade each week and will will have a brand new blade in your knife for almost 4 years!

Long term listeners of TSP know I have recommended this product for almost as long as there has been a TSP.  This little tool sells for under 8 bucks and ships free on Amazon Prime to boot.  I give these away to friends and family all the time.  It is a great way to share prepping in a very soft way.  People see it and are like wow what is that, or you are always prepared.  I just hand it to them, show them how the blade is changed and say, “if you promise to carry it you can have it”.

Important – One little safety tip.  Like most houses we have a “junk drawer” in our kitchen, right near the garbage.  I keep my extra blades and a small screwdriver in that drawer with some tape.

When I change my blade, I put some tape on the edge of the old one, drop it in the trash and add the new one.  I would feel awful if Charlie got hurt in one of his weak garbage eating moments.  It also protects us when we take out the trash and hey garbage men are people too right!  Just understand when your blade is “dull” likely parts of it are still sharp and can be dangerous.  Always and I mean always tape up the edge of old blades when discarding them.

Anyway if you don’t already have one give the Gerber EAB Lite a try, for the price you can’t beat it.  And consider picking up a few to give away and perhaps one for each glove box in your vehicles.  I have even used this to skin squirrels and rabbits, with the way I do it, it is all you need.

Episode-1972- 20 Things Every Child Should Know How To Do By Age 14

I rail on the millennial generation a lot, more accurately I rail on their parents (my generation) for not teaching them life skills and frankly reality.  Well, you can bitch about things or your can provide solutions, and I try to be a solutions guy.

I want to be clear, that these skills alone will not fix the problem, there is a philosophical difference that is a problem as well.  In the generations before parents put themselves where they belonged, at the head of the family. They were first parents and secondly their child’s friend.  I will say a bit on this today, because it needs saying but if you take the path of teaching your kids these skills, perhaps even first learning a few yourself I think you will find you have to do what many parents no longer do, lead.

This is the crux of the problem, our nation is desperately lacking leadership, and we keep looking beyond ourselves for it.  Well trust me when your 12 year old daughter is wielding a Glock or a skill saw, you will see the need for leadership instantly.

Join Me Today To Discuss…

  • Why I chose this topic for today
  • How the mental shift lead to the skills being lost
  • Why we must restore individual leadership in America today
  • My list of 20 things is not the list of “THE 20 THINGS” – this is important
  • 20 things every child should be able to do by age 14
    • Possesses basic economic literacy
    • Be able to teach what they know to others with confidence
    • Be able to identify edible and dangerous plants in their area
    • Grow plants and propagate them
    • Safely use firearms
    • Use basic hand tools (mechanical and wood working)
    • Use basic power tools (drill, saws, etc.)
    • Cook (this doesn’t mean make Kraft mac and cheese)
    • Catch fish local to their area
    • Be able to argue a point with basic logic
    • How to do laundry
    • Self directed learning
    • How to train a dog
    • Basic self defense
    • Basic entrepreneurial thinking
    • How to use a shovel, a hoe, a pick and a rake
    • Start a fire, keep it safe and put it out
    • Repair and maintain a bicycle
    • Practice basic first aid
    • Safely use a ladder
  • Final Thoughts – Don’t like my list, add, subtract, append, make your own

Aumo Bluetooth Magnetic Headphones – Item of the Day

Every day I bring you an item on Amazon that I personally use or has been purchased by many members of the audience and I have researched enough to recommend.

Today’s TSP Amazon Item of the day is Aumo Bluetooth Magnetic Headphones.  Recently I upgraded to an iPhone 7.  Frankly I am blown away but the video quality it produces.  The fact that it requires a lightning cable enabled earphone set though led me to finally get with the modern times and find a good bluetooth ear buds set.

Let me be honest, without breaking the bank this was the absolute best set I could find.  This item has over 70 reviews on Amazon and 95% are four star and above, in fact 92% are five stars.  In the world of electronics that says something.  The product is also covered by Amazon’s 30 day instant return policy and the manufacturer warranties it for 12 months.

Here is what I was looking for in a product like this…

  1.  Magnetic – to be blunt I lose shit, like all the damn time.  I don’t so much lose it, rather set it down and can’t find it for a day or three, even though it is 10 feet away from me.  The fact that I can just leave them around my neck when not in use reduces this a lot.
    `
  2. Good Quality Microphone – I do a lot of my youtube videos behind the camera walking the property, going to using a head set upped the audio quality a great deal.  But get this, since this is bluetooth with a 10 meter range, it doubles as a wireless microphone when I am in front of the camera.
    `
  3. Good Battery Life – You get about 8 hours of continuous talk or listening with over 240 hours of standby time.  I just charge it when I charge my phone, in other words often.
    `
  4. Good Value – I know some of you are super music people that want super sound and will pay almost as much for head phones as your phone, that ain’t me man.  These sell for about 36 bucks “on sale” with a list price of $79.99.  But I bought mine a while a go, they were on sale then, I think these are one of those items always “on sale”.  Would I pay 80 bucks for these, no there are competitors who are damn good and less, but I would pay 50 and not bat an eye.

So if you are in the market for a set of bluetooth earbuds you could do a lot worse than Aumo.  Let me also say, if you are an old school type still using wired phones, you never will again once you try these or any decent set for that matter.  Working in the yard and NOT having the wire snag on your shorts pocket, rip the buds from your ear and your phone from your pocket is a nice thing!

Again for you Youtube content creators, consider if you use your phone for video that any good bluetooth earbuds will do the job of a wireless microphone that would cost hundreds of dollars.  So check out the Aumo Bluetooth Magnetic Headphones and free yourself from wires today.

Remember you can always find the TSP Amazon Item of the day by just going to TspAz.com along with all of our Amazon reviews.

Episode-1971- Future Business, Political and Entrepreneurial Trends

Today we are going to take a look at where we are and where we are headed in 2017 and beyond.  We will start off with a brief look at current politics, and how I expect to see the health care fiasco play out.  I will also discuss where I think relations with China will head under the Trump administration.  Lastly will we see major tax reform in Trump’s administration, if so what will it look like.

Next we will look at trends in business for the next 4 years, who will the new winners and losers be?  Why we will see death and a limited rebirth in retail.  How block chain technology will be embraced by some of the largest corporations in the world and what that might mean for us in the future.

We then turn to entrepreneurship at the individual level.  I tell you the types of jobs and side hustles I think will be effective in the next 5-10 years.  I will talk about why you should profit from things even if they are short term trends as well.

Join Me Today to Discuss…

  • The Obamacare mess is right where I said it would be
  • Why Trump will make things in the end even easier for China
  • Why tax reform will likely happen, why it frankly has to
  • How retail is dying and being reborn at the same time
  • Why the banks have to move to a block chain like technology
  • How marketing will become laser targeted in the next 10 years
  • Some entrepreneurship level opportunities and why they have merit
    • Home and homestead level automation
    • Unique high end food and beverage items
    • Real Estate – get creative
    • Block Chain Technology Is The New Internet
  • Above all think agility and adaptation

Davidson’s Organic Peppermint Leaves – Item of the Day

Every day I bring you an item on Amazon that I personally use or has been purchased by many members of the audience and I have researched enough to recommend.

Today’s TSP Amazon Item of the day is Davidson’s Organic Peppermint Leaves which are a great deal at $13.55 a pound.

As many of you know I grow a lot of peppermint on my homestead so you may wonder why I buy this product.

Think of it this way, to make a pound of dry mint you need to harvest about ten pounds.  You then need to dry it, sort it, sift it and then you have your pound.  Now I use fresh mint all the time but I also make up blends for use as daily teas, mead infusions, etc.  If it takes me two hours of jacking around to make a pound of dry mint I can buy for 14 bucks, I am valuing my time at 7 dollars an hour.

It comes down to this…

  • Sheer Volume
  • Ease of Use
  • Value of my Time

My number one use for this product is my daily drinking tea, I love this stuff and try to make up about 4 quarts every time I blend it.  We give some away but I honestly go through about a quart a week.  So we are back to time value equations, do one blending, drink tea for a month.  Here is that recipe.  All parts are measured by volume not weight.

Jacks Morning Blend – Nine Mile Farms Tea

That tea is one every singe person who has tried it loved.  Especially sweetened with stevia.  Another blend I do is simply 50% peppermint to 50% lemon balm.  This makes a great tea on its own, I also make a mead with it at 3 lbs of honey to the gallon, infused with 3/4ths of a cup of this blend.

All by itself it makes a great tea, I use about 4 level tablespoons to my large French Press or about two to a large cup with my Tea Infuser.  If you have paid attention you will notice that Davidson’s is one of my go to’s when it comes to herbs and tea.  They have an incredible value to price ratio, are almost always available in organic and simply taste great.

Remember you can always find the TSP Amazon Item of the day by just going to TspAz.com along with all of our Amazon reviews.

P.S. – For some reason Amazon has lumped ALL Davidson’s tea reviews together, this renders the reviews on this item essentially useless.

Gerber Dime Multi-Tool – TSP Item of the Day

dimeEvery day I bring you an item on Amazon that I personally use or has been purchased by many members of the audience and I have researched enough to recommend.

Today’s TSP Amazon Item of the day is the Gerber Dime Multi- Tool.  To me everyone should have a mini multi-tool on their key chain.

This is one of my absolute favorites due to how small and useful it is. There are so many times in our lives we could use a screw driver or a pair of pliers or even a good pair of tweezers.  I spent a lot of time checking into small key chain sized multi tools and the Gerber Dime was the one I settled on.

With this little gadget on my key chain I have the following tools everywhere I go, all the time.

  • Needle nose pliers
  • Wire cutter
  • Fine edge blade
  • Retail package opener
  • Scissors
  • Flat Screw Driver
  • Crosshead Screw Driver
  • Bottle opener
  • Tweezers
  • File

For many years I carried a Leatherman Wave, in fact I often still do.  Frankly I think it is the best full sized multi-tool out there.   But it is a rather large item on your belt and just not practical for every day and all the time.  To much EDC makes one look like a pathetic version of Batman you know.

So at times I would need pliers, a driver, etc, and just not have it with me.  Well pretty much anywhere I go I have my keys.  To drive home how small this item is when folded here is mine on my key chain below.  As you can see it takes up less space than the key to my 4-Runner.

gerberdime

The Gerber Dime Multi- Tool is also a great deal at under 17 bucks with free shipping on Prime.  It absolutely will not do everything a full sized tool does but it is small enough to always be there when you need it.  To me that is the key with mini multi-tools, better a small set of pliers then none at all!
