Episode-1755- Is Stateless Marriage Possible

Just Something to Ponder!

Just Something to Ponder!

Today I am joined by Token from our forum.  I am going to warn you ahead of time, her life is unconventional.  She is in a polyamorous marriage with a man and a women, both of them are her “partners”.

Quite honestly this is a lifestyle I do not get, but I also have no compulsion to tell others how to live.  However due to her situation she has come up against almost every legal consideration possible with marriage without the state’s official blessing.

This issue is important to many of our audience, as many are truly beginning to see that no matter your personal life choice there is no reason for the state to be involved in your personal relationships.

There is also a harsh reality, due to current law, the current court systems and many other interactions, marriage has many benefits, protections and privileges.  Simple things and complex things both, like can a child miss school for a funeral without ruining a 2 year college scholarship!  You didn’t see that one coming did you.

So what I would ask of the audience today is to put aside personal predjudicie is any apply here for about an hour, and focus on the real issue, how the state determines what is done with your family, your property and your life in direct conflict with written contracts at times, simply due to the presence of lack of a piece of paper with their seal on it.

In the end sadly there is no elegant solution available for a truly stateless marriage.  It is something we have not sufficiently built a parallel system for at this time.  Pealing back the curtain of this may begin to show you just how much power the state has over your life, even if this particular issue seems unimportant to you.

Join Me for A Fun Day of Planting and Fencing Work – Saturday April 2nd.

Come Spend a Day with Us at Nine Mile Farm

Come Spend a Day with Us at Nine Mile Farm

We had an absolute blast at last week’s work with Jack weekend, 16 people showed up and hundreds of trees were planted and lots of great food and adult beverages were consumed.

This next time around we still have some ferreting out to determine exactly what we will be doing, likely some sheet mulching and finishing up on some fencing I am already doing on my own.

In any event it will likely be 3 hours of work tops this time, so we will do a property walk, some whiteboard work, questions and answers and as always eat really good and have a blast.

We will start with a safety briefing about 10:30, drink a cup of coffee, get everyone introduced and start work about 11:00.  For lunch this time I think I will make you guys brisket and sausage!

While we don’t do a full barter blanket at these events feel free to bring items for sale or trade.  Cost is 15 dollars a head, kids under 14 are free, family rate which includes kids over 14 and spouses is only 25 dollars.  Please bring cash with you.  To reserve your spot just complete the form below.

If for any reason you have to cancel after you reserve, just email me so I have an accurate head count.

Once you complete the form you will go to a page with all event instructions, PLEASE book mark it or print it out right away and bring one signed last page for every member of your group with you on Saturday.

If you have any issues with the form displaying here, use this link to directly access the form on Wufoo.

The small 15 dollar charge at these events covers food, beer, cider, etc.  They are certainly not for profit ventures.  If you want to buy some duck eggs while you are here our inventory has been pretty good lately and they are 8 dollars a dozen as always.

Get a Food Forest In A Box for Under 300 Bucks

apples

Guys and gals I have gotten a hell of a deal for any and all TSP listeners, again any of you, not just MSB, well if you get in on the deal before the inventory runs out.

Grant Schultz who has been on the show discussing silvopasture and acquiring land along with building a business in agriculture also runs a site called New Farm Supply.

Grant initially approached me about an MSB discount but given he ships so seasonally for the time being I decided to get a deal for everyone.  How about this deal, 483 dollars worth of trees for 297 bucks with free shipping, yep.

The catch?  He has 45 of these bundles available and only 45.   Here is what you get for 297 shipped,

  • Ten American Red Bud Trees
  • Ten Antonovka Apple Trees
  • Ten Cherry Trees
  • Ten Chestnut Trees
  • Ten Paw Paw Trees
  • Ten Select Seedling Apples
  • Ten Persimmon Trees
  • Ten Pecan Trees

I just got a bundle of 10 Antonovka Apples today that I ordered a few weeks back, let me tell you Grant is growing some quality trees.  This literally is a food forest in a box.  And if you can’t plant them all, pot some up and sell them to friends and neighbors.  This is 80 trees in all so at $297 that is only $3.71 a tree.

So you could do this, plant half of them, sell the other half for 8 dollars a tree and pay for all your trees when you do so.  Just one option.  Anyway I wish I had gotten this deal before I purchased all my trees for this spring!

To get this deal just visit this link, TSP Food Forest in a Box at New Farm Supply

Episode-1750- 10 Gun and Ammo Combos and What they are Great At

The Belgian Browning Auto 5 - One of My Favorite All Time Guns

The Belgian Browning Auto 5 – One of My Favorite All Time Guns

With a title like 10 Gun and Ammo Combos you may think of this as a top ten list type of thing.  As in Jack’s top ten guns, it isn’t.  I personally love guns and the science of ballistics.  I love the art of the gun, the design that goes into everything from a tactical AR15, to a lever action design that is more than a century old at this time.

No these are guns that in general are simply great guns, have a real role if put to proper use and the caliber or gauge that I feel really makes a particular frame sort of sing, and again this is just my opinion.

My goal is for the show today to be fun and expand the listeners knowledge of various guns and calibers.  To get off of the Glock/AR rut I think many are in today.  Don’t get me wrong, both are great guns, but they are a tiny fraction of the beauty, quality and tradition that is firearms as a whole.

Join Me Today to Discuss…

  • What makes a gun “great” to me
  • What makes a cartridge “great” to me
  • My ten guns we are going to discuss today
    • Remington Model 7 – in 7mm-08
    • Marlin 1894 – in 44 Magnum
    • M1 Carbine – in 30 Carbine
    • Ruger Single Six Convertible – 22LR/22mag
    • Remington 7600/760 – 30-06
    • Marlin Model 60 – 22LR
    • Marlin 336C – 35 Remington
    • Remington 870 Wingmaster – 20 Gauge
    • Belgian Made Browning Auto5 – 12 Gauge
    • NEF Handi Rifle – 357 Magnum
  • Final Thoughts

My Special 44 Special Load for Quiet Carbine Use

This is a 44 Special Load from an older Lee Manual.  Do NOT reduce any further!

300 Grain Lead Bullet
Standard Large Pistol Primer
9.8-11.5 grains of H4227

I settled on an even 10 Grains of Powder.  In a 20 Inch barreled 1894 Marlin 44 Magnum it is quieter then most Break Barrel Pellet guns and will penetrate 7 inches of solid pressure treated lumber at 25 yards and is accurate to about 50 yards before the low velocity takes over and drop becomes extreme.

Similar loads should be possible for rounds like,

357 Mag – Try light 38 Spc Loads
45 Colt – Try Cowboy Action Loads to start out

Episode-1749- Financial Preparedness the Modern Survivalist Way

It Would Be Funny If It Wasn't So Accurate

It Would Be Funny If It Wasn’t So Accurate

Tuesday shows are always stand alone, just Jack shows on a particular subject.  Today’s will be on financial prepping, next Tuesday will be on guns and the following will be on food storage and prep.  This was all due to the results of an informal Facebook poll.  You can see the post and results here.

To that end I will be doing more stuff like this in the future to let you guys tell me what topics you want covered.  Today we delve into financial preparedness in a way you won’t ever learn in school and almost no “financial adviser” will ever assist you with, except perhaps John Pugliano.

Economics and the reality of unfunded liabilities, the national debt along with everyday financial worries is the number one reason people get into the preparedness lifestyle.  Sometimes it is from a practical approach but just as often it is panic and fear based.  Today we set aside panic and establish a base of common sense and pragmatic techniques to build, preserve and protect wealth.

Join Me Today To Discuss…

  • The number one wealth killer – poverty consciousness
  • The number two wealth killer – consumer age thinking
  • Why the two are actually related and not as oppositional as you’d think
  • The lesson of the game Monopoly
  • Why debt is cancer and must be eradicated
  • Why saving is more important than investing for most people
  • The lessons of alternative energy
    • Start with increasing efficiency (income)
    • Reduce losses (spending)
  • My rules for truly becoming financially resilient
    • Increase your economic IQ – daily for a year at least
    • Save money, determine what you can save, then do a bit more
    • Reduce expenses in small ways, put at least half of it away
    • Create additional income (business, second job, more hours)
    • Save money (cash on hand, cash in bank, CDs, bonds)
    • Become a land owner on some level
    • Put some money into silver/gold (5-10% of NW)
    • Put some money into bitcoin (a little each month or quarter)
    • Become a producer of food, yes, really
    • Plant trees
    • Buy the best you can afford once vs. cheap twice
    • Become highly skilled at fixing your own problems
    • See opportunity everywhere because it is everywhere
    • Become a great cook
    • Invest in only what you understand and only when it makes sense
    • Get out of the way of telegraphed punches, yes time the market
    • Pay off all debt asap, I know I said it before and I will keep saying it
  • Final thoughts – The game is rigged, it is a big club, you are not in it!
