MSB Members Now Get 10% off at TSPCopper.com

Copper Has a Long History as Money of the Common Man

Copper Has a Long History as Money of the Common Man

Monday we had what can be termed as a “soft launch” of the TSPCopper.com Store.  There are now 21 different copper rounds available in the store and we are shipping them with in two business days of them being ordered.

These coins are all official AOCS barter currency with a barter unit value of 2.  They are also great for spreading the message about honest money, pepping, the second amendment and many other awesome topics.

Of course the flagship of our store is the TSP Copper Rounds with Val on the front with the moral compass that keeps preppers on track with Honor, Courage, Strength and Knowledge. There are some really great rounds as well though.

My personal Top 5 Favorites Are…

The best part is all MSB members can now get 10% off all copper at TSPCopper.com.  This makes TSPCopper.com the best priced store I can find for AOCS Copper rounds.

Currently there are no Silver or Gold rounds available, we will be adding them in the future and yes, MSB will get a special deal on them.  It likely won’t be 10% as the margins on silver and gold are very thin but we will do something for our MSB Members on those items as well.

The discount code for the copper store is now in the benefits section of your Members Area.

Episode-870- Listener Calls for 3-30-12

It is time for another show based 100% on emails the audience has sent in to jack at thesurvivalpodcast.com  Remember to submit content for a show like this.

Please realize I get hundreds of submissions a week and can only get about a dozen on the weekly feedback show.  That said I do read them all and often put out many of them on facebook and twitter even if I don’t put them on the show.

The best way to make sure I read your question or comment is to put “question for jack” or something similar in the subject line of your email.  This will also help to prevent accidental spam sorting.

Today the Dow is once again nearing all time highs, the spin machine tells us that unemployment is dropping and the economy is really picking up steam, Mike Gasior would call it a “wonderful fiction”.  So what do I think, I think we are right where I said we would be back in early 2009, on our way to the glorious false recovery.

Episode-868- Wade Bowlin on Bug Out Vehicles

Wade's 5-Ton XM820

Wade's 5-Ton XM820

Wade Bowlin is a self described computer nerd, network engineer, business guy, gear head, gun nut, survival junkie and prepping maniac. He joins us today to discuss bug out vehicles (BOVs).

Wade will talk to us about different ideas like: new vehicles, RVs, old vehicles, and most importantly military vehicles and trailers.  Wades bug out location is approximately 1200 west of his current location so he has put a lot of thought into getting there and have come up with two solutions:  Fast and agile or slow and tough.  My personal choices are a 2010 Ford F-150 Raptor and a 1971 AM General XM820.

Join Wade and I today as we Discuss…

  • What makes a good BOV
  • What about newer vehicles vs old vehicles
  • Where do you find and buy military surplus vehicles
  • Choosing a daily driver or special use vehicles
  • What items should you stock in your BOV at all times
  • What you should know before you buy a military vehicle
  • What a duce and a half may be a better option than a 5 ton
  • The good and bad of automatic and manual transmissions
  • What are the best resources for learning more about military vehicles
  • The value and simplicity of military technical manuals

Please Excuse Longer than Typical eMail Responses

We use Wild Blue Satellite Internet at the homestead.  It has worked fine since December and made our lives a lot better.  It has worked much better than the old solution I used which was an AT&T wireless card.

However for some reason our service went down Monday and hasn’t come back up.  I called tech support and was walked though power cycling the modem and router as though I was some retard even though I told them I had done it already three times.  I complied and did it again and was told that it didn’t work and we needed to have a tech come out to work on it, well duh!

Issue, they “can’t get anyone to our location until April 10th”, really?  No what they actually mean is they don’t have any techs in the area for new install until then and don’t want to eat the trip charge to send one!  So I am 13 days with out service, they promise to rebate that AFTER they fix the issue.

The upshot is Wild Blue doesn’t seem to give a crap about customer care.  They may be your only option but if you have anything else you can use, my advice is don’t use them.  By the way if you get HughesNet they are a private label Wild Blue and you can expect the same crappy service.  Consider that my PSA of the day.  I don’t run TSP on Wild Blue as it isn’t for business operations but I consider answering email to be something it is designed for.

The big issue here is that I generally leave my office by about 2PM central and while I can use my iPhone for short email responses anything requiring a detailed response is likely to have to wait until the next day until we get our connection back.   I should also note I pay for the absolute highest level of service you can possibly purchase from Wild Blue, so my experience is clearly the best you can expect.

I asked a supervisor if she would be okay if her phone, TV, electricity or any other service was going to be down for 13 days with out any attempt by the provider to fix it, she responded with no.  When I asked her why I should be okay with the same treatment from them, she said, “I understand how you feel”, well perhaps enough TSP members will choose someone else to make them know how I feel.

I don’t call for boycotts mind you and again I am keeping them because in some instances for now they are the only option.  I am just saying based on my experience make damn sure they are the only option before you do business with them.  Clearly they are a company that values your business so little as to allow more than two business weeks to pass before they even attempt to fix your problem.

PS – If anyone from Wild Blue happens to be reading this it may interest you to know that the audience of TSP is currently in excess of 35,000 people.  Many live in or are moving to rural areas, in other words your prime customer base.  Perhaps a few hundred in trip and over time charges to one of your techs would have been a less expensive choice?

Episode-867- Listener Feedback for 3-27-12

So yesterday’s listener feedback show was preempted by my wife having oral surgery.  So instead we did a show for you on AOCS copper, silver and gold.  Today we will discuss a bit more about that based on some questions that come in and continue on to answer your emails as we always do once a week.

So it is time for another round of you your feedback, questions and commentary sent to jack at thesurvivalpodcast.com.  Make sure if you submit content for a Monday feedback show that you put something like “comment for jack”, “question for jack” or “article for jack” in the subject line to assure proper identification for my screening process.

Today we discuss the new TSPCopper.com store, double action vs. single action, the national debt, rifles for hunting and defense, buying a home and fighting evil by exposing it.

Episode-866- Rob Gray on Copper, Silver and Gold

Copper Has a Long History as Money of the Common Man

Copper Has a Long History as Money of the Common Man

Today we are joined by Rob Gray, founder of the AOCS (American Open Currency Standard)  to discuss AOCS copper, silver and gold as a barter currency and all things monetary.

The AOCS exists to expedite the implementation of metal as money.   They actively prospect, train, and support the 3 groups that comprise the AOCS: Merchants that accept AOCS Approved Currencies, Currency Issuers that conceptualize & requisition new minted pieces, and Trade Coordinators that exchange the Currencies with the general public. The AOCS promotes local enterprise and rebuilds local community wealth.

The AOCS promotes a “value for value exchange”

A good way to understand this is to think about the US fiat currency. Imagine a $50 US Federal Reserve Note. Think about what it is “worth”. Most people will quickly answer “$50?. However, the note is merely paper with ink on it, worth plainly no more than a few cents. The currency is worth “$50? only because a merchant is willing to give you $50 worth of value in exchange for it. Also, the courts have decreed Federal Reserve Notes “legal tender”, meaning that the can be used in payment of taxes and to satisfy a debt obligation.

So a paper currency is worth something only when someone is willing to give you something in exchange for it. An AOCS silver currency, however, is valuable whether it is traded or saved. When you exchange silver with a merchant, you are trading value for value. It has two “values”: an intrinsic value and a face or trade value. When you exchange an AOCS currency at a participating merchant, you receive “face value”. If you ever need to melt and sell the currency (which we do not recommend), you will receive “bullion” value. Either way, the currency can not be artificially inflated and will never be “worthless”.

When you exchange in trade with an AOCS Merchant you trade Value for Value, instead of paying for goods and services with fiat debt based Money.

Yep basically today is just me chatting with you.  I have quite a few things I want to cover, go over and some hanging stuff out there I want to kind of “clean up”.

I also bring up some topics and ideas that may really challenge your belief and may even make some of you angry with me.  I only ask that you listen to and consider what I say.  I also only ask that if you disagree and I don’t see things your way that we still respect one another.

Episode-863- Chris Duane on Constitional Silver

US Silver Coin is "Constitutional Silver"

US Silver Coin is "Constitutional Silver"

Chris Duane is an interesting guy, he is the founder of The Sons of Liberty Academy and The Greatest Truth Never Told and runs a blog called Don’t-Tread-on.Me all dedicated to educating people about our flawed monetary system.  How he got to that point is the more interesting part of the story to me though.

Chris’ family had 7 car dealerships in New Jersey, Salerno Duane Auto Group so he was doing quite well in corporate America.  However in 2005 he sold his house at the top of NJ’s housing bubble went all in on gold, silver and oil. Then in 2007 he was offered the opportunity to join the board of Heritage Community Bank but turned it down and told all of the partners “they were nuts to be starting a bank in the current cycle”.

So in 2008 he sold everything and walked away from his inheritance to get out of the area ironically just three months before the car business imploded. Later in 2009 he began helping people to do foreclosure investing but later quit doing that in 2011 focus full time on the dollar collapse.

His first action in warning about the pending dollar collapse was the foundation of The Sons of Liberty Academy to help people learn what he had uncovered in the past 6 years of study and real life application of his principles.  He later founded the blog Dont-Tread-On.Me to bring attention to the Academy.  Chris is now consulting with the Silver Shield Report and putting out an updated version of the Academy called the Greatest Truth Never Told.
