I spend a lot of time on “individual liberty”.  I do so because I think the tide to turn government is so deep that it will take decades or longer to really change things.  Until such time I refuse to live in oppression so I have and will always teach that when it comes to liberty like many things, what you do matters is the number one component to success.

However being in New Hampshire for a few days with the crazy, radical, libertarian folks that call themselves the “Free Staters” has given me renewed hope as I watch how they are making progress at the personal level as well as at a systemic level.  Each member does their own thing, some are inside the system, some fully outside and others such as myself are working a bit in both worlds.

  • Yes I am still a minarchist but have no further need to debate anarchists
  • You really can make a change at the state level
    • Over 12 State Reps are Freestaters
    • Many more backed by the New Hampshire Liberty Alliance
    • Over 1,000 people have moved as part of the FSP
  • Competing Currencies are Alive and Well
    • Lots of AOCS currency was in place
    • I understand bitcoin a lot better now
    • Shire Silver is onto something
    • TSP Copper will be back soon with even more options
  • People are waking up
    • Photography and video are making LEOs accountable
    • The local/real/etc food movement is hitting a critical mass
    • Many Free Staters were really taken in by “modern survivalism”
    • People in the FSP have each others back – BIG TIME
  • The impact on me
    • I likely won’t ever move to NH, but it could happen
    • My determination to fight is stronger than ever
    • My receptiveness to competing ideas is more open than ever
    • My view on currency isn’t different, it has however, expanded
    • The FSP is not “sponsored by” TSP
    • I will be back in NH next year

A Long Trip Home Today

Dorothy and I are currently packing up stuff at about 0425 at a hotel just outside Boston Logan Airport.  We spent yesterday in the wonderful White Mountains which was an awesome way to recharge after 4 absolutely awesome days at the Liberty Forum.

There will be no episode of TSP today but we will of course return tomorrow.    Might I suggest one of these three shows as a blast from the past today instead.

Anyway we are hoping to be  home early enough to spring the dogs from “dog jail”.  Please note it isn’t really a jail, it is a nice place for them.  I just call it “jail” due to the exorbitant “bail” that must be paid to secure their release.  See you guys and gals again tomorrow.  As you might imagine I am pretty charged up from this experience so tomorrow’s show should be full of energy.

Jack to Appear on Free Talk Live Tonight at 9PM

I will be on “Free Talk Live” tonight from 9:00 PM Eastern Time until about 9:15 PM.  We will be broadcasting live from the Liberty Forum.  Those who are here with us can actually come down to the amphitheater on the basement level to watch if you want.

You can listen to or watch Free Talk Live in a variety of ways, you can find all the options for that at this link.

Once that is over we will be off to the “Speaker’s Pub” once again to hang out with listeners that are in attendance.

Let me say that thus far Liberty Forum has been an amazing experience and I am so encouraged by the work being done by the Free State Project.   I really believe in what these folks are doing and will be lending a lot of support from TSP to the Free State Project going forward.  A big announcement will be made tonight about that.

Before you jump the gun, no we are not moving to New Hampshire.  I am not sure that is in our cards but I don’t have to move to support what they are doing.  Tonight on the air I will be making an announcement about how TSP will be putting some of our weight behind the move for liberty in New Hampshire.

So make sure to tune in if you can to hear more about that.

Surviving the Economic Collapse is a First Hand Account of a Modern Economic Collapse

Fernando “FerFAL” Aguirre is 31 years old and recently relocated from Argentina to Northern Ireland, with his wife and two children. He started writing about urban survivalism after experiencing first hand the socioeconomic collapse of his country in 2001.

The everyday experience of living in Argentina after the collapse provides Fernando a wealth of experience that he shares with his readers through his blog and book.

Fernando is the author of “Surviving the Economic Collapse” which has been a Emergency and Disaster best seller since its release in 2009. He brings a voice of realism to this topic of economic collapse.

Basically Fernando’s message is everything the TV and Hollywood have told you bears very little resemblance to reality.  He joins us today to discuss international relocation and answer audience questions that were gathered on Facebook and Twitter the morning of the interview, I keep telling you guys to hook up with TSP on Facebook and Twitter.  This is one reason why.

Recently I get a ton of emails on an article called. 8 Personal Finance Lessons from Benjamin Franklin that was published on the very cool blog, The Art of Manliness.

Several dozen of you told me that this article sounded like 8 things I say often on TSP.

So rather than read the article at all I decided to do the show based just on the 8 tenets of Franklin and see how much in sync we really are or are not.  One thing for sure old Ben’s advice seems quite timeless to me.

One of the many suggestions made for “suggest a show day” was one on take down guns.  A take down gun is exactly what it sounds like, a gun made to be “taken down” so that it becomes smaller, takes up less space and packs easier.   Another advantage is that when it “taken down” form it will be less likely to set off, “hey that bag looks like the guy might have a gun in it alarms”.

The take down gun is often seen in spy or assassin type movies.  Yet it has many other practical applications.  For some people carrying a handgun is out of the question due to laws and regulations.  However in some states you can always carry a rifle if not loaded.  PLEASE CHECK your local regs as in some states an unloaded gun, locked in a trunk can even get you in trouble.

When back packing a small take down rifle or shot gun packs easily and is a better game getter then any handgun.  If you ever were to end up in crisis situation during some sort of mass shooting a rifle is a better tool for the job. Remember that in the Bell Tower shootings in Austin a private citizen with a rifle assisted the officer who stopped the shooter.  Not to mention other armed citizens returned fire and pinned him down.

So the take down gun indeed has many advantages.  As I own a few and have shot a few others I though this would be a great topic to cover.
