Episode-713- Steward Rhodes on Opperation Sleeping Giant

Today we are joined by Stewart Rhodes, founder of Oathkeepers.    Oath Keepers is a non-partisan association of currently serving military, reserves, National Guard, veterans, Peace Officers, and Fire Fighters who will fulfill the Oath they swore, with the support of like minded citizens who take an Oath to stand with us, to support and defend the Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic, so help us God.

The Oathkeeper  motto is “Not on our watch!”

If the American people, are forced to once again fight for their liberty in another American Revolution, they will not be alone.  The Oathkeepers will stand with you.

There is at this time a debate within the ranks of the military regarding their oath. Some mistakenly believe they must follow any order the President issues. But you can rest assured that many others in the military do understand that their loyalty is to the Constitution, and understand what that means.

Yacouba Sawadogo is the Man Who Stopped the Desert

Yacouba Sawadogo, can not write, he was never classically educated, he received no help from any government programs but this one man has done more for the people in the ‘Sahel’ region of Africa than any other person or group of people combined.

How?  In some real ways, simply by digging holes!  He uses a method of growing called a zai.

Soil is essential to life on earth. But much of the world’s soil has become degraded and useless. As the global demand for food grows, millions of pounds and the latest technological advances have been invested in attempts to improve soil quality.

Using a “Bag Garden” for Temporary and Transitional Production

Sometimes you have a situation were you don’t have time to dig a bed.  Sometimes the spring passes before you can’t get planting.  In our situation we have all that and more.

We didn’t get our moved accomplished until June, then I had to leave for two weeks to enjoy a promised vacaiton with the most supportive and understanding wife in the world.  So I found myself in late June with nothing planted, the solution a bag garden.

Basically I took the absolute worst spot on my land soil wise and laid out some bags of top soil, built a trellis with some existing pines and planted some fast growing summer crops.

The goal is simply to provide us with some production while we spend the rest of the summer doing soil improvements for fall gardening.  The video below is the results after about 4-5 weeks of growth.

Episode-710- Holly Hirshberg from The Dinner Garden

Holly Hirshberg founder of DinnerGarden.org

In 2008, in the midst of a crumbling economy, Holly Hirshberg came up with a plan to help families and communities could weather the tough times by growing produce themselves.  Much like the Victory Gardens of the First and Second World Wars, these “Dinner Gardens” would allow people to stretch their food budgets and enhance their nutritional intake.   Individuals and families could have greater food security and take a direct part in that effort.

To help people achieve their gardens, Holly started at the beginning: providing people with vegetable seeds, free of charge.  Step two was supporting their efforts with gardening information and tips for cheap gardening in the space they had available.   She envisioned a nation where front lawns, empty lots, medians, parks, schools, churches, and community centers devoted space to fruit and vegetable gardens.

Holly often states ,”The Dinner Garden isn’t just about the seeds, It is about giving people hope. It is about showing people another way to live. The Dinner Garden is creating communities where families spend time together in a productive way and children learn that they can create something beautiful and useful to their family.”

USH2.com is the my personal favorite source for individual energy independence available on the web. USH2.com is chalk full of incredible resources for creating your own energy from solar, wood, biogas and more. Their site has an incredible selection of products, DVDs and books that empower individuals to personal energy independence.

The best part is MSB Members now get 15% off of all books and DVDs at USH2.com.  Trust me no matter what you are looking to learn about in the realm of personal energy independence you will find it at USH2.com.

Some of the resources I am adding to my personal library are…

I am really happy that I was able to bring USH2.com to the MSB program.  I generally try to bring in vendors that I am happy to spend my own money with and this is definitely one of those times.   Even if you are not in the MSB if you have been looking for ways to increase your personal energy independence check out USH2.com today.

A quick note on the discount, the 15% only applies to books, videos and DVDs, USH2.com also has some awesome products like biogas stoves and rocket stoves but they are already priced so low that Steven is not able to offer further discounts on them.  I am personally still going to pick up one of his portable biogas stoves, they just seem to cool not to add one to my preps.

If you are serious about gaining energy independence this one benefit could cover the cost of an entire year of the MSB.
