Episode-252- Let’s Start Getting Ready for Fall

I know it is over 100 degrees in many places right now, the pool is even getting to warm right?  Fall is a million miles away, I am here to day, no sir it isn’t.  For many fall is less then 60 days away, in many instances the cool fall air and the changes with it are only 30 days out.  It is time to start thinking about fall and winter expecially with your gardens.

In the intro segment I announce Nancy Pelosi as “assclown of the day” for her swastika comments.  I also recognize a group of retired people as “heroes of the day” for standing up as members of the AARP and not being walked on by the far younger people that were dictating to the members how they should think.

Then before the main subject I do a review of the Kaito Voyager Radio, my recommendation is do not buy this.  Tune in for full details today, it isn’t all bad I just don’t think you are going to get your money’s worth at this price point.

Episode-251- Prepper Mentality vs. Self Sufficient Mentality

I have a simple question for you in today’s very brief show notes, are you mostly a prepper in mind set or are you more concerned with self sufficiency and simply see being a prepper as a part of becoming more independent?

The answer is neither right nor wrong it only matters to you. My question today is are you preparing in case you have to deal without systems of support if you have to or do you wish to minimize your need for those very systems even if they remain available? My goal today is not to tell you how to think or how to act but to get you to ask yourself if you are really living to your own moral and ethical standards. I don’t expect you to adopt my standards and I don’t want you to try to make me adopt yours but I do know one very important fact. That fact is simply that if you live a life where you are not able to abide by your own standards you will have a very hard time getting to where you want to go.

So that brings up my next question, where do you want to go? Not geographically but with your life, how self sufficient do you want to become? Are you getting closer to that or are you just taking some actions in case you have to be self sufficient? Which one fits your life today and where you want to be tomorrow? Remember there is not wrong answer other then the ones you know are wrong for your life.

~ Jack

Episode-250- 5 Rules for Food Storage

Today we have a wide variety to discuss but the main topic is the 5 primary rules for food storage. Specifically how to build up a truly sustainable food storage and production program. Today’s show is mostly based on the article that I had published on Lew Rockwell today. (The Article on LRW.com).

In the intro segment today I talk about a random assclown blogger that is lying about me saying such things is I “teach isolationist survivalism” and that “I make up fantasy lies about Barack Obama” and worse that I am a right wing shill.  Clearly this twit does not comprehend that I am a raving libertarian often to the dismay of many of my conservative listeners.  I don’t mind critisim, I don’t even mind the ocassional out of context comments but this person is a liar.  Please go visit her, inform her she is a liar and make her aware that I have invited her to come on TSP to discuss these lies directly.  Her pile of crap hack piece (can be viewed here)  Oh and you do loose credit when you write about someone and can’t even spell their name correctly.

I even include an end of show bonus segment with a brief review and commentary on Episode 3 of “The Colony” a reality TV show on Discovery Channel.

The Rules We Discuss Today for Food Storage….

  • Store what you eate and eat what you store
  • Take advantage of opportunity buys
  • Use long term storage items as extenders and adjuncts
  • Become a producer
  • Use a holistic approach not a magic bullet

Episode-249- The Practical Aspects of Tactical Firearms

I don’t do a lot of firearms centric podcasts simply because there are a lot of great podcasts about guns and their use, training and customization.  Yet it is a major component to modern survival philosophy so today I attempt to bring some practicality to that subject.

Today in the intro segment we discuss the 33 million dollar fine to Bank of America and why it pushishes their shareholders (whom it is supposed to protect) and doesn’t punish the company at all.  We also discuss a small group of senate democrats that recently stood up for the second amendment.

On the main topic tune in to hear my thoughts on…

  • Are you grounded in reality from a home defense stand point?
  • Can you get to your gun?  Is a 5 second response time 3 seconds to slow?
  • Why I advise concealed carry holders to continue carrying when the get home
  • Are you mentally prepared to pull the trigger are you mentally prepared to not pull the trigger?
  • Are you proficient with your firearms, is your family?
  • What makes a good defensive hand gun, is bigger better?
  • What makes a good home defensive shotgun?
  • What place does the carbine play in home defense?
  • Has the “fantasy” many engaged in ever actually occurred?
  • What can we learn from the NRA’s armed citizen segment in American Rifleman?
  • What role to airsoft weapons play in tactical training?
  • Where does the 22 fit in the mix, why should you have one and how to choose one
  • A bit on airguns for training and game harvesting
