No Show On St. Patrick’s Day

The fact that it is Saint Patrick’s day is not really relevant.  Simply due to a few occurrences there will be no survival podcast today.  All is well and we will be returning to our regular broadcast tomorrow.

Episode-160- HR875, Survival Gardening and The Square Foot Garden

Well we are back from Arkansas and I have a lot to talk about today.  A new bill called HR875 has come to my attention and while some are saying it may shut down back yard gardens I think the big threat is to the small farmer.  If you are a gardener this still matters to you too.

I will also give my new take on square foot gardening as pioneered by Mel Bartholomew.  As I spent the last week reviewing Mel’s new version of SFG, I have come to the opinion that it may be the perfect survival gardening method at least for many crops.

Episode-157- The View of Survivalism in the Media vs. Reality

The media’s veiw of survivalism and modern survivalist philosophy are greatly disconnected from realtiy.  Join me today as I discuss a recent episode of the T.V. show “Medium” (yes the show sucks I watched it just for you so tune in) where a survivalist was painted as and eccentric killer.

In my view this media bias is actually quite dangerous and could cause a lot of suffering or even cost lives in the future.  Tune in today to get some thoughts on countering this bias, why it is important to do so and how we can reach people who are starting to ask the magical question, “what if”.

Episode-156- Recovery Equals Inflation

Right now everyone is wondering when the economy is going to recover.  They are waiting for it as a tribesman awaits rains coming to the desert.  Oh won’t it be a glorious day when the Dow reverses course and begins a sustained climb, the banks open the mortgage food gates and “good Americans” do their patriotic duty and spend money?

Hold on, my problem with this is in reality this is the recovery!  The nation turned into a bunch of credit, debt and spending addicts.  What you see now is the nation in rehab!  300 million addicts coming off the spending spree and going through detox!

It won’t last!  The Federal Reserve and their drug cartel (banks, credit card companies and financing organizations) might not be willing to kill their clients with an overdose, yet they can’t allow them to go strait either.

Soon the peer pressure and dealer pressure will start up again.  Come on honey the Jones family just got a new car, the Smiths at work just got a new house and their are buyers for our house now.  Besides I just got a raise and we have saved up a lot of money.  Let’s enjoy life, you can’t take it with you!

The TV and Radio and the Dancing Girls at Weather.com will advertise “low mortgages that anyone can qualify for”.  The good times will return!  With them, inflation like we have never seen before.  When it happens don’t forget the pain of today, don’t go back to being an addict.  “Stay the course”, the one your grandparents set, value your money, save for a rainy day and buy what you need, not what you covet.

Today’s show discusses these concepts, explains the fallacy of a decline in the M3 Money Supply and will help you deal with a recovery that will actually be a relapse of the addiction and lead to a bigger crash then we just went through.

Episode-153- 10 Unspoken Principles Driving Modern Survivalism

Today’s show is going to be a bit different.  I sat down, read the forum, read the comments here and listened to some of my own shows and came up with 10 principles that seem to be driving the modern survivalist and modern self suffiency movements that aren’t really discussed as “survivalist concepts”.  To me these 10 priciples are what bind us together, they have been written into our spirits by prior generations.

As you read them or as you listen to this show, ask yourself these questions about each one.

  1. Do you feel this way in your heart?
  2. Is this principle even if not discussed often one of the things really driving your decisions today?
  3. Can you hear your grandfather/grandmother saying these things?

Tune in today to hear me discuss the following priciples,

  • Debt is a tool like a gun, it does not belong in the hands of a fool
  • When something breaks you may not be able to replace it, so take care of things and learn to fix them
  • Hard work should be respected not avoided
  • To be dependent upon anyone is to be their slave
  • Knowledge is priceless – pass it down
  • Honor dictates that we consider our children before we act
  • Enjoy the sunshine today, it may and probably will rain tomorrow
  • A man’s word should be his bond
  • A title doesn’t make a man a leader, you can only lead people that willing choose to follow you because you have earned their respect
  • Knowledge with out application equals zero

Episode-152- Dealing With Anti Survivalist Stigma

Today’s show covers the anti survivalist stigma that modern survivalists must face in main stream society.  Are you tired of being depicted as a “right wing militia gun nut locked up in a religious compound praying for the end or modern society so you can live off your cases of peanut butter while everyone else starves”?

Honestly I don’t care about how people think about me as an individual, I am who I am with my pholosophy out there for anyone to examine and embrace, ignore or criticize.  I do however, care a great deal about many people that know something isn’t right about how we are living today as a society and want to know more but are put off by how the media and society potrays us.

Today’s show covers how to discuss modern survival philosphies with the uninitiated and get easily past the stigma and hopefully help more people live a better life, “if times get tough or even if they don’t”.
